Description

The only practical technique to refrigerate condensed matter systems into the microKelvin range (1 microK to 1 milliK) is by adiabatic demagnetisation of the nuclear spins. In this talk, I will describe, with relevant background, our 5 year long effort towards reaching such ultra-low temperatures for the first time in our country.
