Description
Isolated horizon is a local description and perhaps the most general definition of black hole horizons. Because of it's generality, it has indeed become a tool to understand black hole mechanics and black hole entropy in various theories of gravity including supergravity. In this seminar, I will talk about the mathematical & geometrical set up. Moreover, I shall show that the formalism is readily applicable to determine entropy of extremal black holes.
