On the reduction modulo p of certain modular Galois representations

We determine the modulo p reduction of p-adic Galois representations associated to certain modular forms with arbitrarily large weight. Confining the crystalline slope to (0,1), the reductions can be computed by a weight lowering technique. We show that the mod p Galois representation comes from an eigenform with sufficiently small weight and apply known results for the small weights range.
