Description
In this talk, we discuss some theoretical predictions concerning dynamics of ultracold bosons in an optical lattice and the corresponding experimental results. We focus on two such systems, namely, ultracold bosons near the superfluid-insulator critical point and bosons in the Mott phase in the presence of effective electric field. We show that a) the former system displays dynamics induced freezing when driven periodically at specific frequencies and b) the latter system can be mapped onto a dipole model with an Ising like transition at a critical field leading to Kibble-Zureck scaling laws for dipole density when driven linearly through the transition,
