Description
The sirtuins are NAD-dependent mitochondrial protein deacylases. Three sirtuins, SIRT3, 4 and 5 are localized in mitochondria. SIRT3 targets acetylation, SIRT5 targets succinylation and alonylation and the target for SIRT4 has not been identified. I will review our recent progress in identifying the mitochondrial SIRT5-regulated succinylome and the implications of these finding on mitochondrial function and metabolism.
