Mixing, Counting and Equidistribution on the hyperbolic plane

In this talk we will see the interconnection between counting
point in the orbits of $SL(2, Z)$ on the hyperbolic plane with the mixing  and equidistribution for the action of $SL(2, R)$ on the unit tangent bundle of Modular Surface, using the arguments which can be applied to more general settings.
