Description
The origin of cosmic magnetism is an issue of fundamental importance in astrophysics. In this talk, I will start with a brief overview of astrophysical magnetic fields and turbulent dynamos which are driven by astrophysical flows that are highly turbulent. Modern day supercomputers coupled with a wide variety of astrophysical software is gradually enabling us to probe magnetic fields and their impact in diverse astrophysical settings thereby opening up new and exciting possibilities of research. I will discuss in detail, some aspects of this endeavor, particularly in the context of magnetic field generation in the first objects followed by a brief overview of our recent effort in understanding turbulent mixing in astrophysical flows and an outline of future research directions.
