30 years ago, mere mention of the word "implant" was controversial.
Organized dentistry was cautious in accepting the concept of dental
implant. However since then, long-term clinical data based on sound
research and scientific principles was developed. Dental implants have
changed the face of dentistry over the last 25 years. Dental implants were
introduced by the TIFR's Dental Section a couple of years back and 19
staff members were already benefited by these till date.
This colloquium will give an overview of the topic of dental implants. It
will provide information needed to make informed choices in consultation
with your dental surgeon for the surgical part of the dental implant
supported prosthesis. Experiences of a few patients - before and after the
dental implant placement, will be highlighted as case studies.
