This talk will review the effective field theory approach to charmonium production called NRQCD and its comparison with data from hadron collider experiments. In particular,a theoretical prediction of the c cross-section and its experimental test at LHCb will be critically analysed to ascertain whether this new set of data sounds the death-knell for NRQCD. A post-mortem report will be presented as conclusion.
