The Big Bang cosmological model is the prevailing cosmological model for the universe where the universe expanded from a very high density and high temperature initial state. It offers a comprehensive explanation for a broad range of cosmological phenomena. The model is subjected to observations from a growing number of, increasingly ambitious, cosmological surveys across many wavebands. This talk will be a brief introduction to the subject of cosmology from the perspective of contemporary cosmological research.
