I will discuss recent results on a variety of novel quantum phase transitions, focusing on systems in 3+1 dimensions. I will describe several surprising quantum critical phenomena - examples will include multiple universality classes for the same phase transition, the concept of unnecessary quantum criticality, and Landau ordering transitions that are beyond the Landau paradigm. Time permitting I will describe a possible simple dual description of a strongly coupled 3+1-D quantum field theory.
