Description
Exotic material properties often are linked to complex interplay of spin, charge, orbital and lattice degrees of freedom that makes the study of the origin of such exoticity difficult. In an effort to probe behavior selectively, we propose a method to heat electrons of a selected symmetry without affecting the other electrons based on time-resolved ARPES. Employing this technique, we demonstrated that itinerant electrons relaxes faster that the localized ones – a signature orbital selective behavior such Mottness, magnetism etc. In this talk, I plan to discuss basics of photoemission spectroscopy and propose how this can be used to probe complex phenomena.
