I will explain why effective theories are playing a central role in the effort to unravel the mysteries of the Higgs mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking; why the amplitude bootstrap provides a natural theoretical framework for effective theories; and how gauge theories, Higgsed gauge theories, and Lorentz symmetry are inter-related.
