Description
We discuss our recent experimental and theoretical results on two-dimensional disordered systems with open boundaries. Measurement of spectral statistics revealed a conflicting behavior in the statistical parameters, which were explained by a tight-binding model augmented with dissipation[1]. The model was further used to study localization at two limits of disorder, namely, amorphous and near-periodic disorder. Discrepant transport parameters at the two limits of disorder predicted by the model were excellently reproduced by our follow-up experiments[2]. Finally, the model was applied to examine a one-dimensional, dissipative hybrid system, which suggested an anomalous enhancement of transport under localizing disorder[3]. [1] Phys. Rev.
