Description
Mandelbrot mentions that one of the first uses of the words ``random walk" recorded was to try to describe the apparently random motion of a horse moving in a field of grass. He also remarks that the motion looks random to us, but perhaps not to the horse! In any case, in this talk, I will try to give a popular semi-technical account of my research that was mentioned in the citation of the Boltzmann award 2022.
