Surface abundances of elements measured in low-mass very metal-poor (VMP) stars ([Fe/H]<-2) provide a fossil record of the interstellar medium in the early Galaxy. The observed abundance pattern in VMP stars can be used to study the early Galactic chemical evolution and directly constrain the nature of nucleosynthetic sources that were operating in the early Galaxy including the supernovae resulting from the death of massive First Stars and early exploding white dwarfs. I will talk about my recent works on this topic that aim to address some of the outstanding issues and gain insights into the nature of sources operating in the early Galaxy.
