Abstract:
Ageing population is on the rise in India with 8.8 million persons living with dementia. This is also a global public health concern as its etiology is unknown, it can affect anyone and, sadly, there is no cure yet. So, it becomes imperative that we need to be more holistically aware about irreversible dementia viz., symptoms, diagnosis, tests done, its interventions and management, caregiving, my suggested GAME MODEL and more. It is also important to know the many domains it affects in daily life and how it dishevels lives of other family members. Another serious problem is the supply of trained caregivers and lack of health infrastructure specifically to manage dementia care.
Timely awareness will help initiate a lifestyle discipline that will be conducive to defer onset of dementia and also improve holistic health, quality of life and wellbeing.
