Description
The XYZ exotic states observed in the hadronic sector containing at least two heavy quarks represent one of the most compelling open problems in particle theory. In this talk, I present a systematic description of such multiquark hadrons within the effective field theory framework known as the Born–Oppenheimer Effective Field Theory (BOEFT). BOEFT is derived directly from QCD by exploiting scale separation and symmetry principles, providing a controlled and model-independent approach to heavy multiquark dynamics. I will discuss the general structure of the coupled-channel Schrödinger equations that govern multiquark systems with two heavy quarks and an arbitrary number of light quarks and/or gluons. Furthermore, I will present matching calculations within BOEFT for static potentials, semi-inclusive decay processes, and production at large transverse momentum, highlighting the predictive power of the framework.
