Description

The LHC generates an unprecedented volume of scientific data, which must be processed in real time to meet bandwidth and storage constraints. The trigger system plays a fundamental role in determining which physics processes can be recorded and studied. In this seminar, I will discuss the evolution of the hardware-based trigger of the CMS experiment in Run 3 to probe unconventional signatures, and the capabilities of the upgraded trigger system for the High-Luminosity LHC, including my current and planned contributions to its commissioning.
