 \, which are at the heart of modern Artificial Intelligence (AI) Systems\,
  rely on remarkably simple algorithms. We will start with a brief technica
 l overview of these systems and then discuss their impact on the theoretic
 al sciences and broader society.  AI systems have solved a number of impo
 rtant open problems in Mathematics and are likely to affect  theoretical 
 physics.  These systems are also expected to be strategically important. 
 We will discuss some implications for scientific research institutes and t
 he necessity for India to keep up with the frontiers of AI rather than sim
