Description
Gauge matrix models may be thought of as describing the extreme low energy fluctuations of the corresponding parent gauge field theories. We will describe the construction of these models, and touch upon some theoretical aspects like the gauge configuration space and its singularities. We will then describe the 2-color-2-flavor model, and examine it at large baryon, isospin, and/or chiral chemical potentials. There exists a complex web of quantum phases, labelled by baryon number B and isospin I. Interestingly, several of these phases are LOFF-like, characterized by a ground state which carries non-zero spin. The fermionic content of these LOFF-like ground states consists of spin-1 di-(anti-) quarks which are analogous to Cooper pairs.
