The School on Experimental Astroparticle Physics (SEAP) is a continuation of the legacy of the Winter School on Astroparticle Physics (WAPP), established to introduce and inspire students in the field of experimental high-energy astroparticle physics. It began at the Cosmic Ray Laboratory, TIFR in Ooty in December 2006, with the second edition took place at the Bose Institute in Darjeeling in December 2007. Since then, the school has alternated annually between these two venues.
SEAP is designed to introduce master's and early PhD students to the exciting and evolving field of astroparticle physics, offering a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Each day begins with morning lectures delivered by experts, covering both fundamental concepts and advanced topics related to cosmic rays, gamma rays, and neutrinos, ensuring participants build a theoretical foundation. In the afternoons, students engage in hands-on experiments, using cutting-edge equipment such as high-speed electronics, fast photomultiplier tubes, plastic scintillators, and proportional counters. These practical sessions provide students with valuable technical skills and firsthand experience in measuring and analyzing high-energy particles, complementing the knowledge gained during the lectures.
